STEM City will be hosting virtual STEM nights beginning on Monday, May 3rd with community partner organizations via the groups’ Facebook page, FlagstaffSTEMCity. Participating organizations are creating science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematic video presentations highlighting their work in the greater Flagstaff community. The resources will also be made available to area educators as classroom materials to enhance learning opportunities in area schools. “Unfortunately, we will not be hosting this event in-person this year,” shared STEM City President Mike Thomas. “We are excited to continue forward with the spirit of this event in a different format, continuing to celebrate STEM in this community, and offer learning opportunities to all that participate.” Organizations interested in participating in the event can contact STEM City at email@example.com for additional information.
“This is a great opportunity for local businesses and organizations to showcase their contributions and inspire their future leaders” says board member Anne Hamlin. “It's also a great opportunity for local students to see what STEM careers look like on the other side of their classes and graduation.”
One of the presentations that will be included in the event is the annual STEMMY Awards highlighting individual contributions. Nominations for the awards are now available online at www.flagstaffstemcity.com. Last year’s virtual STEMMY Awards ceremony is currently available here. A schedule for the event will be posted to the STEM City website, www.flagstaffstemcity.com, the week prior to the event.
2019 STEM Celebration
The 6th Annual Flagstaff STEM Celebration took place on Monday, March 11th, 2019. The event once again took place in the Northern Arizona University Walkup Skydome.
We had 110 exhibitors showcasing how they are apart of our STEM community. These exhibitors were part of local non-profits, businesses, government organizations, NAU, CCC and the Flagstaff Unified School District.
When entering, attendees were greeted by one of our sponsors, McCarthy Construction, handing our bags for people to collect their hand outs and crafts in.
We would like to thank our sponsors Northern Arizona University, McCarthy Construction, APS, Flagstaff Arts Council, Altice, Flagstaff 365, and the Flagstaff Unified School District for helping us put on another successful STEM Celebration.
