STEM City was born out of a shared community vision to recognize, celebrate

and expand the tremendous human and capital assets in Science,

Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) that exist in Flagstaff.

We connect the vibrancy of Flagstaff’s STEM businesses, organizations and

resources to our schools, students, and families to strengthen our education,

economy and environment. We employ our passion for STEM to empower

and create real, meaningful impact for all the citizens of Flagstaff.

Imagine a classroom of 7th graders
working with a local contractor and engineer
to design and model a city of the future.
Or a 4th grade classroom
working with a biologist to develop ideas
to protect an endangered species
of the Colorado Plateau.
Or an Indigenous artist teaching sustainability and the use
of natural materials and dyes to high school art students.

That’s the premise behind Full STEAM Ahead . . . bringing local professionals
into classrooms to open the world of STEM possibilities to students.

STEM City connects and convenes collaborative STEM orientated businesses and organizations, schools, educators and parents to develop and deliver engaging activities that lead to STEM learning, development of 21st Century skills and a Flagstaff workforce poised to succeed in tomorrow’s economy.
