STEM City’s Confluence is a community exhibition that brings art and STEM together through original visual works inspired by the science, technology, engineering, and math happening across Flagstaff. The program connects artists with STEM professionals, researchers, students, and industry partners to turn real ideas, discoveries, projects, and innovations into creative works that help people experience STEM in a new way.

Each piece in the exhibition is created through collaboration, giving artists the opportunity to interpret scientific and technical concepts through their own creative lens while giving STEM professionals a new way to share their work with the community. The result is an exhibition that highlights both the creativity behind STEM and the curiosity, imagination, and problem-solving that connect art and science.

Confluence also celebrates Flagstaff’s legacy as the world’s first International STEM City and the many people and organizations contributing to innovation throughout the region. Student and professional artists, STEM students, scientists, researchers, businesses, and industry professionals are all part of the program, with Indigenous collaboration especially encouraged.

The public is invited to experience the completed artwork during Flagstaff’s First Friday ArtWalk on Friday, October 2, 2026. The exhibition begins at 5:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 204 W. Birch Ave. Visitors can explore the artwork, learn about the STEM work that inspired each piece, and see how art and science can come together to tell the stories of our community in unexpected and engaging ways. The evening offers an accessible way to discover the STEM happening all around us.
